RPOF Release - July 20, 2010
Crist No Longer Supports Repealing ObamaCare
TallahasseeThe Republican Party of Florida today commented on the string of Charlie Crists blatant flips-flops and admitted inconsistencies published in todays Wall Street Journal, most notably his flip-flop on ObamaCare following conversations with Harry Reid.
If it wasnt already crystal clear that Charlie Crist is a political opportunist who will stop at nothing to win the next election, todays Wall Street Journal article lays out specific examples of his numerous policy shifts and also discusses the fact that independent Charlie Crist is openly reaching out to liberal Democrat leaders like Harry Reid, said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker. These conversations with the Senate Majority Leader coupled with his recent flip-flop on ObamaCare are a clear signal that Crist will likely caucus with the Democrats if elected to the U.S. Senate.
Charlie Crist claims to be for the people, yet while the majority of Floridians oppose ObamaCare, Charlie Crist no longer supports its repeal, continued Whitaker. Charlie Crist is so fickle that now hes not only flip-flopping on policy positions he held as a Republican, hes moving further to the left and changing beliefs he has held in the few months hes been a candidate with no party affiliation.

Crist and Sink Criticize the Legislature But Offer No Real Solutions
TallahasseeThe Republican Party of Florida today responded to comments made by Charlie Crist and Alex Sink regarding Charlie Crists politically-motivated call for a photo-op special session.
While the Florida House and Senate will continue to work to towards innovative, meaningful and realistic legislation, offering a possibility of real solutions to this historic crisis, Charlie Crist and Alex Sink are using the same old playbook playing politics and offering political rhetoric that provides nothing beyond press conference talking points," said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker.
The problem for Alex Sink is that once youve used this disaster to try raise money for your political campaign, your credibility is thrown out the window, continued Whitaker. And for Charlie Crist, his feigned outrage doesnt overshadow that fact that he waited until he was down in the polls to call a special session and then failed to offer a single substantive proposal.
Its easy to sit back and fake leadership by showing up for photo opportunities and holding press conferences, but what Floridians are actually looking for from their current Governor and their CFO who would like to be Governor, are credible solutions. Instead, all Charlie Crist and Alex Sink have done is generate free publicity for their respective campaigns, Whitaker concluded.

Alex Sink: The Florida Legislature should be prepared to do their job.
TallahasseeThe Republican Party of Florida today commented on Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate Chief Financial Officer Alex Sinks distributing lack of understanding of the legislative process demonstrated in her remarks following Charlie Crists politically motivated call for a photo-op special session.
Rather than following the Charlie Crist, Alex Sink and Barack Obama playbook and playing politics with taxpayer dollars, the Florida Legislature is discussing a special session solely focused on bringing relief and recovery efforts to the people of North Florida, said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker. Members of the Legislature are currently touring the impacted areas and meeting with local leaders to thoughtfully gather information and construct a legislative package that will actually help Florida families, business owners and communities, not just provide convenient sound bites and photo opportunities.
Perhaps Alex Sink could give recommendations and helpful ideas instead of making statements that are void of facts and understanding and heavy on partisan finger pointing, continued Whitaker. If Alex Sink wants to call on others to do their jobs, she should start with Charlie Crist who called this session to push a constitutional amendment, instead of real economic recovery.
Alex Sinks comments reveal that she has not read the Governors call for the special session in which he only outlined plans to push for a constitutional ban on offshore oil drilling, nor did she read Senate President Atwaters detailed memo explaining how the legislative select committee needs time to gather information and access the short-term and long-term effects of the spill, concluded Whitaker. As usual, Alex Sink focuses on pointless press conference punch lines, like staples and paperclips, rather than thoughtful plans that can bring about real solutions.

Press Release: Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate - July 13, 2010
Tampa, FL - At a town hall meeting in Tampa today, U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio will announce the first in a series of proposals to reclaim America's future by offering a clear alternative to the anti-growth, anti-job creation economic policies coming out of Washington.
In a web video this morning, Rubio highlighted the problem of big spending politicians from both parties who have taken over Washington and say or do anything to remain in power, and why Washington needs a clear conservative alternative to help jumpstart the economy and begin the path to recovery in the Gulf Coast.

Politically-motivated call for photo-op special session reveals a history of conveniently wavering policy positions, costs taxpayers $120,000
TallahasseeThe Republican Party of Florida today commented on Governor Crists politically-motivated call for a photo-op special session and his sudden opposition to offshore drilling, right after he supported it, but since he previously opposed it.
In a time when Floridians are looking for answers and leadership from the Governor, Charlie Crist has instead turned to a shameless and expensive election year public relations stunt by calling for a special session to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot that already exists in Florida law, said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker.
The Governors self-serving actions are so transparent that he should strongly consider funding this $120,000 campaign event from his U.S. Senate coffer, rather than expecting Florida taxpayers to foot the bill, continued Whitaker.

Over 75,000 donors fuel record-breaking quarter
Miami, FL Demonstrating his growing grassroots momentum, U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio (R-FL) today announced that his campaign raised over $4.5 million during the second quarter of 2010, eclipsing Charlie Crist's state fundraising record for a single quarter. To date, over 75,000 donors have fueled the campaign with an average contribution of under $86.
In making this announcement, Rubio issued the following statement:
With each supporter and idea, our campaign continues to prove that Floridians want their next U.S. senator to be a check and balance against Washingtons big spending agenda, while offering a clear, conservative alternative. I continue to be humbled and energized by the outpouring of support were receiving from voters who recognize that Im the only candidate in this race who will go to Washington, stand up to the big spenders in both parties and preserve the limited government principles that have made America exceptional.
A year ago, many were convinced that a principled campaign against the big spending Obama-Pelosi-Crist-Meek agenda stood no chance in the face of better-funded and more popular opponents. A year later, Im thankful that our supporters have always understood what the stakes are in this election and have rallied behind us to create this movement. Todays announcement marks another important grassroots milestone on our way to ensuring our message is heard loud and clear throughout Florida this fall.
